WCHC Vol I, pg 31 “A pile of stones covered a grave on top of the ground, necessitated by an unusually late severe cold spell of weather which froze the ground, for three men (Dr. Thomas Kenney, Henry Castleberry, John Courtney) massacred by Indians a few days after April 6, 1844 near Salado Creek W of present Jarrell.
